Michigan Tech Google App Support

Google Workspace is the set of web-based tools used for communication and collaboration at Michigan Tech, which includes tools for email, calendaring, groups, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, forms, and file storage.  Getting started is as easy as logging into any Google application with your Michigan Tech account name and password.

Michigan Tech’s Workspace for Education Agreement

Michigan Tech’s Workspace for Education agreement provides full support for the following apps in Google Workspace:

  • Gmail
  • Calendar
  • Drive and Docs
  • Google Groups
  • Google Sites
  • Assignments
  • Cloud Search
  • Google Chat
  • Google Chrome Sync
  • Google Meet
  • Jamboard
  • Keep
  • Migrate
  • Tasks

Paid Third-Party Apps

Paid third-party apps used at Michigan Tech, such as Turnitin Draft Coach™, are supported by the app vendor rather than Google.

Other Unsupported Google services

There are additional Google services that are not covered under our license agreement. These may or may not be enabled in Workspace. The apps on this list are entirely unsupported and are used at your own risk.

We discourage Michigan Tech employees from using these unsupported services for business needs. We cannot support these under our agreement, and it may be impossible to recover resources from these services if they are tied to an individual’s Google account once they have left the university.

Some of the popular apps include:

  • YouTube
  • Colab
  • Google Ads/AdSense
  • Google Analytics
  • Google Books
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Google Earth
  • Google Maps
  • Google Photos
  • Google Play
