This process can be used to enter grades using Experience and Faculty Self-Service. There are instructions for both entering grades individually and uploading grades from a spreadsheet.
Submitting grades using Faculty Self-Service
- Log in to Michigan Tech Experience.
- From the main menu, select Work.

- Locate the Faculty Self-Service card and select Faculty Self Service Grade Submission.
Note: A link to Course Tools, which leads to the Canvas Grade Wizard, is available on this card. If you run into issues with the Faculty Self-Service Grade Submission process, you can use the Grade Wizard or Banweb to enter grades instead.

Option 1: Individual course submission
Click on a course row to expand the course roster with a final grade column, where you can choose the student’s final grade.

When finished, select the Save button in the lower right to save your submission progress or select Reset to reset unsaved grade submissions.

Note - the Hours Attended column is not currently used. Last Attend Date is only used when a grade of “F” has been entered for a student, and the Narrative Grade Comment is only used when an "I" grade is submitted. Grade submitters will be alerted when these entries are required.
Grading Status
Grading Status is new to Faculty Self-Service Grade Submission. Statuses include Not Started, In Progress, and Completed.

Courses where all grades have been submitted will show a status of Completed.
The course can be revisited if grade changes need to be made after submission, but before grades have been committed to academic history (each evening during the grades submission period).
Option 2: Batch Submissions
Click on a course row to expand the course roster.

Step 1: Exporting Grades
Instructors can export grades, edit the spreadsheet as necessary, and import the grade information back into Banner.
- From the upper right-hand corner of the browser window, choose the Tools gear symbol > Export Template, and the appropriate template from the Export Template window.
- Select Export to save the spreadsheet.
Please note: consider your environment when downloading the spreadsheet with the grades. It is recommended to save the spreadsheet to your H: drive (home drive) as this is a secure location and will comply with FERPA guidelines.

Step 2: Importing Grades
- Once the instructor is done editing the grade sheet export, choose the Tools gear symbol and select Import to continue.

- The Import window will appear. Choose Browse to select the gradebook from the earlier saved location. Browse to choose the import file, click the Upload button, then select Continue.

The next Import window that appears will have several steps to complete before the final import step by using the Go Back and Continue functions.
- Preview will allow the instructor to check assigned grades to ensure the grade spreadsheet is imported correctly; select Continue to move to the next step.
- Map will allow the instructor to use the drop-down lists to map the data from the spreadsheet to the appropriate columns on the Faculty Attendance Page; select Continue to move to the next step. (Attendance tool not currently enabled, skip to next step.)
- Validate summarizes the proposed changes upon a successful grade sheet upload; select Continue to move to the next step.
At this point, the grade sheet is uploaded, and grades are submitted. The Validation Report will appear indicating the successful and unsuccessful records count. Records with errors can be corrected on the report and reimported using the wizard or updated manually using the application.
Notes
At any point, an instructor can pause grade entry by selecting the Save button in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
Save is in progress:

Save was successful:

If the instructor needs to reset the grades to the last save, choose Reset; choose Cancel or Yes to continue.
