Backup and restore Perceptive Content capture profiles

The following instructions explain how to backup and restore your department’s capture profiles. Below is a screenshot of what the default profiles are within Perceptive Content:

Backup your existing profiles

The inscan.xml file exists in a couple of different locations (check both to be sure):

  • C:\Program Files\ImageNow7\inscan.xml
  • H:\Application Data\ImageNow\inscan.xml

Note: After backing up the file in C:\Program Files\ImageNow7\ if H: inscan.xml file does not exist, proceed to Restore your capture profiles

To backup your existing profiles, create a copy of the inscan.xml file.

Restore your capture profiles

  1. Right-click and copy (CTRL + C) one of the inscan.xml files and paste (CTRL + V) into a new location on your computer.
    Example backup locations:
    • H:\Documents\Perceptive Content; or
    • M:\Folder\Perceptive Content ( use appropriate departmental Multidrive )
  2. Once copied, rename the file to inscan.xml.todaysdateandyear
    1. Right-click on the inscan.xml file, select Show more options, then select Rename.
    2. Type in the new file name. (Example file name: inscan.xml.11142024)
    1. Copy the inscan.xml file from your department’s M drive ( or from your backup location ) into the following two folders:
      C:\Program Files\ImageNow7\
      ImageNow7 file directory
       H:\Application Data\ImageNow\
      ImageNow file directory
    2. If inscan.xml was copied from your backup location, rename the file from inscan.xml.todaysdateandyear to inscan.xml
      1. Right-click on the inscan.xml.todaysdateandyear file, select Show more options, and then select Rename.
      2. Remove the .todaysdateandyear from the file name. The file name should now be inscan.xml
    3. Once the files have been copied back into place, restart Perceptive Content.
