Steps for registering for classes using the Student Registration card feature. Details for adding classes by search criteria, CRN entry, or saved plan.

The Register for Classes feature in Student Registration Self Service is used to add or drop classes for a specific term. Follow the steps below to register for your courses.

How to access

Select the Registration Dashboard link on the Student Registration card in Experience, then select the Register for Classes link on the Student Registration Main Menu.Registration card

Step 1: Select a term

Once in the registration system, start by selecting the term you’re registering for.

Step 2: Choose how you want to register

There are three ways to find and register for classes:

  • Find Classes – Search for individual classes by subject, course number, or keyword.
  • Enter CRNs – If you already know the Course Registration Numbers (CRNs), you can enter them directly to register.
  • Use a Plan – If you've created a plan using the Plan Ahead feature, you can register directly from it. (See Student Registration – Plan Ahead for details.)
Note: The Plans tab now pulls your plan from Degree Works into Student Registration so that you can register from your Degree Works Academic Plan.

Option 1: Register using the Find Classes tab

Use the search tool to find courses.

Use the Add button to add sections to your registration summary.

Option 2: Register using CRNs

If you know the CRN for a class, enter it directly and add the course to your registration summary.

Option 3: Register using a Plan

To register using a plan, select your desired registration plan from the list. The plan name will match the title you provided when you created it in either Self Service Planning or Degree Works Planning. The examples below are named "Test Reg Plan" (self-service plan) and "Test Degree Works Academic Plan" (Degree works plan).

If you have a Degree Works plan, you may need to expand it to see the details.

Note: Sometimes the Degree Works plan detail does not display. When this happens, back out and go back to the Plans tab to see the Degree Works Plan detail/courses listed.

Submit your courses for registration

Once you have your selected courses added to your registration, regardless of which OPTION you use to add courses to registration, you must select the Submit button to submit your Registration choices.

Once you have submitted your courses for registration from the registration summary panel, review the status.  They should all show as Registered, or they will have a descriptive error message to help you resolve the issue.

View your schedule

Use the Schedule and Options tab to view or print your class schedule.

The schedule panel at the bottom left of the registration screen lets you view your schedule in grid or detailed view.

Handy Tips

Use the small arrows and dot icons to resize and rearrange the registration panels.
Use black dots for adjusting window size

Click on a course title in the search results to view detailed class information.

Note that lab and course fees can be viewed by clicking on Fees in this detail view.

Changing Credits for Variable Credit Courses

When registering for a variable credit course, the default registration will be for one credit. After registering for the course, the number of credits registered can be changed by going to the Schedule and Options tab on the top panel of the main registration page. Variable credit courses will have credits hyperlinked. Select the hyperlink to change the number of credits.
