Installing eduroam (Android)

Summary

Instructions for downloading and installing the eduroam configuration tool, including manual configurations settings.

Body

Eduroam shows up on your computers and devices as the wireless SSID “eduroam” when you are within the wireless range of our campus. Eduroam must be an available wireless network to complete the installation.

Install the eduroam app

Visit the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool web page for more information on the available tools and applications.

  1. Search for and install the app for your Android version. For Android versions 8 and higher, use geteduroamgeteduroam app
  2. Find and select Michigan Technological University in the list of home institutions.
  3. When asked to log in, enter your Michigan Tech email (including the @mtu.edu) and password.

Manual Configuration

Android devices should connect to the eduroam network. Use the following configuration to properly connect:

  • EAP type: PEAP
  • Authentication Method: MSCHAPV2
  • CA certificate: Use System Certificates
  • Minimum TLS version: TLS v1.0
  • Online Certificate Status: Do not verify
  • Domain: mtu.edu
  • Identity: Enter your Michigan Tech email (accountname@mtu.edu)
  • Anonymous Identity: anonymous@mtu.edu or leave blank
  • Password: Enter your Michigan Tech password
  • Advanced
    • ​​​​​​​Metered: Detect automatically
    • Proxy: None
    • IP Settings: DHCP
    • Privacy:
      • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Use device MAC
      • Send device name to network
