If an operating system is not listed or unsupported and is required for research, academic, or administrative purposes, the system owner or relevant dean or director must submit a Security Control Exception Request documenting why the system must use the unsupported operating system, how long the unsupported system is needed for, and what will occur at the conclusion of the exception.
