Occasionally, the card services system becomes unavailable, and all of the door readers enter an offline state. The way that offline behavior is handled depends on the device installed at each door.
Most of our doors use a "local database" method, meaning that periodically during the day, the doors will download card tap data for all card users and validate the door against that list. These taps are stored and will be uploaded to card services when the doors are back online.
Some doors use a "last taps" method, meaning that the last few taps into the door are stored in a local database and will be allowed through during an offline event. These taps are stored and will be uploaded to card services when the doors are back online.
If you cannot get into your door during an offline event, please contact Public Safety; they can dispatch an officer to assist.
