Setting user preferences for Banner Admin

Some pages inside Banner 9 Admin have a Settings button in the upper right of the admin page that will allow the user to customize their page preferences. Learn how to save preferences for columns, pagination, and filters.

Some pages inside Banner 9 Admin have a Settings button in the upper right of the admin page that will allow the user to customize their page preferences. When you see the settings button available, then the following preferences can be saved: column settings, pagination settings, and filter settings. You can even enter default data (term code, for example) into your search so you don’t have to type it over and over. Since each Banner 9 Admin page is unique, you can set the preferences on each page to meet your needs.

To customize your Banner Admin Page, make the changes you wish to keep, then use the following features below to save your changes.

Save Column Settings

Use Save Column Settings to:

  • Re-size column widths - Includes the ability to shrink columns where only the column border remains visible
  • Re-order columns
    • When re-ordering columns, tab navigation follows the original order and business logic of the page, as delivered by Ellucian 
    • Column freeze/unfreeze
    • Re-order columns that you want to freeze or unfreeze 
    • Column header stays fixed for easy viewing
    • Once changed, the column header will contain a blue highlight to easily track modifications

This is available on all page locations presenting a grid or column layout.  Use Restore Column Settings to roll back the column settings to default.

Save Pagination Settings

Use the Save Pagination Settings to save the number of records returned per page.

STVTERM – Before: Ellucian delivered a default of 10 records per page, resulting in 105 pages.

STVTERM – After: User Preference of 40 records per page, resulting in 27 pages.

Save Filter Settings

Use the Save Filter Settings to: 

  • Save Basic or Advanced filter mode as your default setting
  • Save filter field list and field order
  • Save operator values for the fields selected
  • Save specific data values for the fields selected

Filter settings saved to always display:

  • Advanced Filter mode
  • Fund = PELL, Status = no value, Offered >= 1,000.00

Award Form after

Use the Save All Filter to save all of the user preferences.

Use the Restore settings to set the page back to default settings.  

  • Restore Pagination Settings only updates the Pagination settings
  • Restore Filter Settings only updates the Filter settings
  • Restore All restores the page to its default settings

Notes

Some Banner 9 Admin pages are not set up to allow user preferences.  If you have a question about a page, please send a request to IT.
