Requesting additional software for Graduate Student Productivity Machines

Graduate Student Productivity Machines have a standard hardware configuration and base software package installed. These workstations are intended to support general productivity and academic work.  Graduate students needing more powerful computing related to their research should work with their advisors to use hardware related to or purchased by that research project.

If you need software other than what is included in the base software package, you can search for additional Michigan Tech licensed software in the Software Center.  If you require additional software please have your Faculty or Staff advisor follow this process.

A faculty or staff member will need to complete the form on behalf of the student requesting the software, which indicates approval/support for the installation.

  1. The faculty/staff member completes the Graduate Productivity Computer Software Installation Request.
Please Note - The faculty/staff member will need to complete the form on behalf of the student requesting the software, which indicates approval/support for the installation.
  2. Michigan Tech IT will evaluate the request, which may take up to three (3) business days to complete.
  3. Michigan Tech IT will contact the faculty/staff member and student regarding the outcome of the evaluation.

If you have any questions, please contact Michigan Tech IT by emailing it-help@mtu.edu or calling 906-487-1111.
